ATTENTION, ATTENTION!!! NEW SCAM SCHEME IDENTIFIED!
Dear citizens, there have been cases of money extortion from plastic cards through a new scam scheme observed on social media. The scam works as follows:
Scammers contact you via social networks or messaging apps (Facebook, Telegram, WhatsApp, etc.) and ask you to vote for a fake hotel and leave a positive review in exchange for a certain reward, sending you a link to a fake hotel website.
Once you click the link, you are prompted to first book a room at this fake hotel to vote and leave a review. To do this, you will need to enter your VISA or UZCARD plastic card details. Naturally, after entering the card details, you will be asked to enter a one-time SMS code sent to your phone number.
In this way, scammers gain the ability to withdraw money from your plastic card.
In some cases, scammers may offer you a monetary reward on your plastic card for voting for the fake hotel and leaving a positive review. Of course, the scammers’ goal is to increase your trust in them. But we strongly advise against falling for such tricks and urge you to remain vigilant.
We also ask you to follow these recommendations:
- Do not share one-time SMS codes with strangers;
- Do not open suspicious (malicious) links and files;
- Use official and trusted information resources.
